- 2 medium-sized sweet potatoes (or about 1 ½ cups mashed)
- Water, breast milk, or formula (to adjust the consistency)
- A pinch of cinnamon (optional, if your baby is older than 6 months and has already been introduced to spices)
Peel the sweet potatoes carefully to remove the skin. The skin may be difficult for your baby to digest, so it's best to remove it.
Cut the sweet potatoes into small cubes or chunks to ensure even cooking.
Boil Method: Place the sweet potato cubes in a pot and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and let them cook for about 12-15 minutes until they are tender and can be easily pierced with a fork.
Steaming Method: Alternatively, you can steam the sweet potatoes for about 10-12 minutes until soft and tender.
Once the sweet potatoes are cooked, drain them (if boiled) and transfer them to a blender or food processor.
Add a small amount of water, breast milk, or formula to achieve a smooth, baby-friendly consistency.
Blend until silky smooth.
Once pureed, let the sweet potato cool to room temperature before feeding your baby.
If your baby is ready for more texture, you can leave the puree a little chunkier as they grow.
