Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin or food processor (for crushing biscuits)
  • Spoon or small spatula
  • Whisk or electric hand mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • 4–6 clear glasses, jars, or dessert cups
  • Piping bag (optional, for neat cream layers)

Ingredients

Biscuit Crumb Base

  • 200 g (about 7 oz) digestive biscuits or graham crackers
  • 100 g (7 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted

Toffee Layer

  • 1 can (397 g / 14 oz) sweetened condensed milk, cooked into dulce de leche

Banana and Cream Layers

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 300 ml (1¼ cups) cold heavy whipping cream
  • 1–2 tablespoons powdered sugar (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Toppings

  • Chocolate shavings or curls
  • Cocoa powder
  • Crushed biscuits or a light caramel drizzle

Instructions

  • First, crush the biscuits into fine crumbs. Next, mix the crumbs with melted butter until evenly combined.
  • Then, divide the mixture between the glasses and press gently to form the base. Place the glasses in the refrigerator while you prepare the other layers of this homemade banoffee pie in a glass.
  • Now add the toffee layer. Spoon a generous amount of dulce de leche over the biscuit base in each glass.
This layer gives the banoffee pie its signature richness and caramel flavor.
  • Next, slice the bananas and arrange them evenly over the toffee layer.
The bananas add freshness and balance, which helps prevent the dessert from becoming overly sweet.
  • Meanwhile, whip the cold cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  • Then, spoon or pipe the whipped cream on top of the bananas. For taller glasses, you may repeat the layers, finishing with cream.
  • Finally, garnish your banoffee pie in a glass dessert with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder. Chill for 30 to 60 minutes before serving.
